Should I prep my hair before styling it?
Yes. Try using either Brilliant™ Damage Control™ to detangle and help shield your hair from thermal damage or Smooth Infusion™ Style-Prep Smoother™ to help protect from thermal damage, tame frizz and defend against humidity for up to 12 hours. Both are ideal for any hair type and prep the hair for enhanced styling benefits—giving you the best results from your products.

What's the latest way to get a sculpted style?
Prep hair by spraying Brilliant™ Damage Control™ over strands—this will help protect hair from thermal damage, helping prevent breakage. Emulsify Flax Seed Aloe Strong Hold Sculpturing Gel between palms and fingers and apply evenly to damp hair to get a strong, sculpting effect. Set blow-dryer to high heat and high speed. Blow-dry hair in sections, clamping hair between fingers to give lift and direction. Finish by spraying Brilliant™ Medium Hold Hair Spray directly into your hands before sculpting into place. What's the best way to use Pure Abundance™ Hair Potion?
There are many ways to use this product. The method you choose will have a lot to do with the style you're creating.
- Sprinkle Hair Potion directly at the roots on dry hair and work the product in to create lift, volume and texture.
- Apply to damp or dry hair prior to setting hair in rollers, pin curls and/or with curl or flat irons for volume and texture.
- Work product into dry hair to help absorb excess oil from the hair and scalp. Ideal if you don't want to wash your hair every day.
Does Smooth Infusion™ Glossing Straightener replace Smooth Infusion™ Style-Prep Smoother™ for people who want to create straight styles?
The two products work together as part of the Smooth Infusion™ system to achieve optimum smoothing and straightening results. Style-Prep Smoother™ is a prep treatment that should be applied to damp hair first, helping to enhance smooth finish and defend against humidity. Then apply Glossing Straightener, a style product, to be applied to damp hair prior to blow-drying to add hold, lustrous shine and cuticle protection from heat damage.

Texturizing Creme delivers weightless moisture and texture to hair while reducing flyaways and maintains a soft, light feel once applied to the hair—similar to a traditional styling creme. Shaping Wax feels soft and creamy when emulsified in your hands, then delivers weightless firm, pliable texture that can be shaped and reshaped—very much like a styling wax, only without feeling coated or weighed down.

Is it better to apply Light Elements™ Texturizing Creme and Shaping Wax to wet or dry hair?
Light Elements™ Texturizing Creme and Shaping Wax are specifically formulated to be applied to dry hair. When applied to damp or wet hair, the unique holding properties may become diluted, compromising the high performance.

How can I finish my style when it's dry?
At Aveda, there are three categories of products to finish a style once it's dry: Create Texture, Hold with Hair Spray or Add Shine. Products from these categories can be used after a prep and style product to complete an Aveda 3-step styling system for maximum results.
- To create texture and definition in dry hair, try Light Elements™ Texturizing Creme, Control Paste™ Finishing Paste, Light Elements™ Defining Whip™ or Light Elements™ Shaping Wax.
- To create lasting hold for your style, use Air Control™ Hair Spray—or another Aveda hair spray—and lightly mist over hair until you've created your desired amount of hold.
